The Hidden Beauty - J.Lindeberg Spring/Summer 2014
Dawn on the outer edge of Stockholm’s archipelago, a warm and dewy morning in July. The morning sun is casting its spell over a silent summer field. Let’s get closer and peek through a magnifying glass to see the smallest, most hidden details. The peaceful grassland suddenly transforms into a busy, bustling network of insects, spiders and shiny beetles.
“The look of small creatures magnified to a giant perspective, and nature’s never-ending genius to create functionality inspired me to create the Spring/ Summer 2014 collection,” says Jessy Heuvelink, J.Lindeberg’s head designer. “I have always been fascinated by insects – a fascination that resulted in this collection. Insects offer true beauty and a strict functionality from the outside in.”
The inspiration has resulted in oversized beetle applications, graphic insect prints, reversible bomber jackets, crafted black leather, mélange yarns and semi-shiny nylons. Classic tailoring with an updated twist – like washed, lightweight oxfords and classic virgin wools – is still our motto. A new emphasis on technical couture features protective jackets in water-repellent fabrics with details like taped seams, pre-shaped arms, concealed zip buttons and laser cutting.
The colour palette reflects the insect theme with utility green, golden brown and blues in all shades from sky to dense midnight. Graphic neutrals of black, ivory and oyster are contrasted by pale blushes of pink, highlight flashes of pop corals and electric blue.
